Iran allots 5% of state budget to defense

Iranian lawmakers have passed a law to have five percent of the country's state budget allocated to defense sphere.

The decision was made during the parliament’s address of the national budget plan for the next Iranian fiscal year (to begin March 21), Mehr news agency reported January 9.

The legislation requires the government to improve the country’s ability to build missiles, improve the air defense system, expand the country’s communication and transport systems in a way to serve national defense, improve the country’s cyberdefense capabilities, empower the armed forces against terrorist groups, update and develop the military’s unmanned aviation system, etc.
