Finnish miners in Iran to explore market

A delegation of some 10 mining and mine research companies from Finland have accompanied the country’s Deputy Minister of Economy Petri Peltonen to Iran to seek cooperation with Iranian counterparts.

In a meeting with the Finnish delegation, Mehdi Karbasian, head of IMIDRO (Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization) said Iran welcomes foreign investment, Mehr news agency reported February 19.

There are 600 mineral substances in Iran which make it a big owner of diverse minerals, he said.
“Iran needs $30 billion investment in the mine sector. The country is situated in a market of 450 million population and therefore can act as a hub,” he further noted.
