Ground Forces of the Iranian Army will hold electronic warfare drills in the next Iranian fiscal year, which starts on March 21.

Iranian Ground Force Commander Lieutenant General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said that Information and communication technologies, electronic warfare systems, and anti- electronic systems will be tested during the warfare, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on March 10.

The warfare aims to assess capabilities of forces in case the enemy incapacitates Iran's wireless communication systems, he said.

On Feb. 25, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) started a massive naval drill in the Gulf and the strategic Strait of Hormuz through which one fifth of the world oil supply passes.

The drill dubbed "Prophet Mohammad-9" was aimed boosting the IRGC's combat power and showcasing its missile capabilities to trans-regional powers.

Iranian media outlets report that Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems in recent years.

Since 1992, Iran has manufactured its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radars, boats, submarines and fighter planes.
