Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour has unveiled more details about the recent operation against a terrorist group which took place on April 6.
Pakpour said that three terrorists linked to foreign countries' intelligence services, were killed in the IRGC operation which was launched after "accurate surveillance and reconnaissance operations" have been carried out in the highlands of Qasr-e-qand city in the country's south eastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
Pakpour further said that two more terrorists were injured and more got arrested, Iran's Mehr news agency reported April 7.
The Iranian forces imposed serious damages to the terrorists, Pakpour said, adding that significant amount of weapons and ammunition, including 200 kilograms of explosives, Kalashnikov and machine guns as well as communications equipment were sized from the terrorists.
In recent months, extremist groups have conducted several attacks against local police offices in the region. The groups claim they're fighting against the Iranian government for protection of Sunni residents of the province.
In mid-January, the Commander of Sistan and Baluchestan province police, Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi said that at least 18 members of a terrorist group involved in terror attacks in the province were detained.
"The terrorists were killing police officers and teachers in exchange for money they received from foreign countries," the commander had said.
