Mohammad Saeed Torkman Zehi, the second in command of the rebel Baluchi group Jaish al-Adl was killed in Pakistan.
Zehi, who was also the group's spokesman, was killed in an attack by unknown gunmen in the city of Karachi.
The incident reportedly took place in April 7, however the group has not made any statement on the issue so far.
Iranian security officials have confirmed Zehi's death, the country's Fars news agency reported April 20.
The Iran's Baluchi Jaish al-Adl group kidnapped five Iranian border guards on Feb. 6, 2014 in the Jakigour region of the country's south eastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.
On March 23, the group tweeted that it has hanged Jamshid Danayeefar, one of the five kidnapped guards. The other guards were released later on April 4.
Both Iran and Pakistan have declared Jaish al-Adl a terrorist group. The group's former leader Abdolmalek Rigi was captured by Iranian security forces and executed in 2010 on charges of "armed robbery, assassination attempts, armed attacks on the army and police and on ordinary people, and murder."
