In a move to combat "illegal" marriage websites, Iranian administration will open an official site for the mentioned purpose.

The website will be launched officially on June 15, Mahmoud Golrazi, the deputy minister of Youth Affairs and Sports said, Iran's official IRIB news agency reported June 14.

Golzari said that the website will run in collaboration with Tebyan (an Islamic lifestyle portal) and the Islamic Development Organization (an institution under supervision of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei).

Golzari further said that at least 300 illegal websites are providing marriage service, adding the judiciary and police should deal with that.

The issue of confronting illegal marriage and dating websites in Iran was raised in 2013.

Masoud Amini, official of Iranian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports said in July 2013 that Iran's Cyber Police (FATA) will start preventing activity of illegal marriage counseling centers starting from October, 2013.

Amini further said that Cyber Police will be informed about authorized marriage counseling centers, and names of legal centers will be placed in the portal of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

During the last several years, the number of websites which offer temporary marriage services to Iranians has increased. Activity of such websites has raised a lot of criticism in Iran.

Officials did not announce any exact statistics about the temporary marriage.

Iran's Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry's a 2013 study unveiled that some 84.5 percent of Iranians aged 18 to 29 years are in favor of temporary marriage.

According to the study which conducted tests among 3000 young people of Iran's 14 cities, about 62.9 percent of Iranian youth avoid temporary marriage due to fear of bad reputation.
