Iran makes new radars operational

Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 1

By Khalid Kazimov -- Trend:

Iran made operational a long-range radar called Nazir and a 3D radar called Bina.

The radars were entered into the Iranian national air defense system with Commander of the Khatam ul-Anbiya Air Defense Base Farzad Esmaili, Tasnim news agency reported September 1.

Nazir can detect objects with small area and resists anti-radar missiles. It can detect object from over 800 kilometers away and at an altitude of 100,000 feet.

The radars have been built fully through domestic expertise.

The two radars were unveiled last week, but today they joined the national network.

Since 1992 Iran has been relying on domestic talents to produce various sorts of missiles, radars, tanks, destroyers, etc. as the country has been under international restrictions to buy military object from abroad.

Tehran says its military power is solely defensive and poses no threat to anyone.
