Golestan trembled by 3.6 richter quake

A quake, measuring 3.6 degrees on the open-ended richter scale, hit Incheborun in northern Golestan Province at 20:26:20 hours (15:56:20 GMT) local time on Friday, IRNA reported.

The Seismological center of Tehran University Geophysics Center, said the quake was located at 37.42 degrees north longitude and 54.28 degrees east latitude some 16 kms inside the ground.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or material damage.

Iran is frequently hit by quakes. In 2003 tens of thousands of people were killed in a quake which flattened Bam.

More than 300 people died in two quakes in northwestern Iran in August this year.
