Iran has unveiled a new home-made cruise missile as part of the ongoing massive war games dubbed Velayat-e 95 in the country’s southern waters.

The new Nasir missile was successfully test-fired during the naval drill, Iran’s defense minister, Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan said, Tasnim news agency reported Feb. 27.

He did not unveil any details about the missile.

The Iranian naval forces started large-scale war games, codenamed Velayat-e 95, on Feb. 26 in the north of the Indian Ocean, Oman Sea, Gulf of Aden and the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb.

Last January, the country’s navy held the Velayat-e 94 drills across a large swath of territorial waters and high seas in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Indian Ocean.
