Iranian health authorities have come under fierce criticism as a group of homeless people claim they were left helpless following a car incident in capital Tehran.

A 50-second video has gone viral depicting the aftermath of a car incident where a municipality pickup controlled
by an “underage and unskilled” driver hit a crowd of homeless people standing in line to enter a shelter in downtown Tehran.

According to media reports, the incident has killed at least two, injuring over 90.

Ali, an injured homeless, has told Qanun newspaper that he was transferred to a hospital following the incident but the hospital officials refused to admit the homeless as “there was no empty bed”, though he suffered from great pain.

However, the hospital has agreed to arrange a medical surgery for him on March 2, Ali added.

The social media users as well as the newspaper report have sharply criticized the hospital officials for failing to provide proper treatment for the victims of the incident.

Last December, a series of dramatic photographs depicting homeless people sheltering from the winter cold in a graveyard near Tehran caused harsh criticisms.
