A military spokeswoman in Tel Aviv said the targets were a workshop used for manufacturing weapons and a tunnel dug by militants.

Palestinian witnesses said a cheese and dairy factory on the south-eastern outskirts of Gaza City was hit. A large fire broke out and one civilian was injured, they said. The same factory had been targeted several times in the past, they added.

She told dpa they fired more than 270 rockets and mortar shells at Israeli territory since the start of the year.
