Saudi Arabia's king Abdullah bin Abdulaziz ordered on Friday 100 million riyals ($26.6 million) in medical aid to Gaza, the Saudi health ministry said.

Acting Health Minister Adel Faqih said the aid seeks to fill emergency needs to growing number of injured civilians in the Israeli military offensive in Gaza, Al Arabiya reported.

The move came a week after the king ordered 200 million ($53.3 million) in humanitarian aid for the victims of the Israeli offensive that has killed more than 800 people so far.

Those funds were also directed to paying for medicine and medical equipment to treat "victims of the brutal Israeli aggression and bombing of the Gaza Strip," Finance Minister Ibrahim al-Assaf said at the time.

Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Iyad Madani had appealed to member states and all humanitarian organizations both within and outside the Islamic World as well as to international organizations to extend all forms of support and relief to the Palestinian people, particularly urgent medical relief to the Gaza Strip.
