At least 165 people, including 26 servicemen of government forces were killed in clashes between the Free Syrian Army and government forces over the past 24 hours in the country's different cities, "Al Jazeera" TV channel reported on Tuesday.
Most of the dead are residents of the city of Aleppo. There are many women and children among the dead people.
Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for a year and half.
According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 20,000.
More than 230,000 have become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
