Syrian insurgents have shot down an Air Force helicopter, Al Jazeera TV channel said today.
According to the TV channel, the helicopter was shot down near the city of Idlib. The Syrian authorities have not yet confirmed this information.
Previously, a special envoy of the UN and the League of Arab States Lakhdar Brahimi said that Syria agreed to a ceasefire in the country during the Eid al-Adha holiday (Feast of the Sacrifice).
The Syrian Foreign Ministry said that Damascus is considering the proposal of the UN and the Arab League to cease fire during a holiday and will finally respond on October 25.
Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for a year and half.
According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 30,000.
More than 230,000 have become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
