An earthquake measuring 4.7 points has occurred in the Marmara Sea in Turkey this morning, Anadolu agency said today.
According to the Kandili Observatory of the Bogazici University and the Earthquake Research Institute, tremors occurred at 06:13 local time.
No casualties or damages are reported as a result of the earthquake.
Turkey is located in a seismically active area and earthquakes that often lead to loss of human life frequently occur.
The strongest fluctuations in the earth's crust in Turkey were registered in 1999 in the Marmara Sea. At that time the magnitude of the tremors was 7.4 and caused the deaths of about 18,000 people.
