An accident occurred in Kazakhstan at the Tishinsky Mine of Kazzinc Ltd. (Ridder Mining Complex), Emergency Situations Department of the East-Kazakhstan Region said Aug. 25.
The accident took place at 00:41 local time as a result of concrete's exfoliation from the fastening of the mine shaft, resulting in a broken cage hatch.
The concrete pieces falling inside the mine wounded three workers, according to the Emergency Situations Department.
The department said one of the workers - a 25-year-old sinker died from his injuries on the spot, while a 26-year-old sinker and a 25-year-old electrician were taken to a hospital in the city of Ridder.
The accident did not affect the mine's work. Shifts are transported via a backup mine shaft. The accident's causes are being investigated.
