Iran's presidential candidate Ali-Akbar Velayati said that he will pursue a policy of détente with neighboring countries if he becomes Iran's next president.
Having amicable ties with neighbors serves the interests of the country and guarantees national security, the Fars News Agency quoted Velayati as saying.
He went on to note that détente is the number-one priority on his foreign policy agenda.
Velayati has also highlighted the need to cut expenditures in order to have a more vibrant government.
He further noted that he will try to ease the burden of sanctions imposed by Western countries.
