Brochures and DVD-disks distributed by Armenian delegation in the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) caused discontent of Azerbaijan in the organization.
"Azerbaijani delegation officially applied to PACE chairman on this regards. Totally, Armenians' actions are condemned here. PACE chairman called for head of Armenian delegation, spoke with him on this regards and explained inadmissibility of these actions," PACE deputy-president, head of Azerbaijani delegation in this organization, Samad Seyidov, told Trend on October 2.
Members of Armenian delegation distributed brochures and DVD-disks with distorted historical facts concerning Nagorno-Karabakh conflict among participants of the session.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan lost all of Nagorno-Karabakh except for Shusha and Khojali in December 1991. In 1992-93, Armenian armed forces occupied Shusha, Khojali and 7 districts surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.
