Azerbaijan, Baku, October 26 / Trend A. Huseynbala /

A delegation of Turkish Parliamentarians will arrive in Azerbaijan on October 27.

"The delegation headed by chairman of the Turkish Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Relations Murat Marjan, is expected to include MPs of governmental Justice and Development Party, opposition People's-Republican party and National Movement Party," co-chairman of Azerbaijan-Turkey inter-parliamentary working group, Nizami Jafarov, told Trend on October 26.

Turkish and Armenian foreign ministers Ahmet Davutoglu and Edward Nalbandian signed the protocols Ankara-Yerevan in Zurich on October 10.

Diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey have been broken due to Armenia's claims of an alleged genocide, and its occupation of Azerbaijani lands. The border between them has been broken since 1993.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan lost all of Nagorno-Karabakh except for Shusha and Khojali in December 1991. In 1992-93, Armenian armed forces occupied Shusha, Khojali and 7 districts surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Jafarov said that meetings between Turkish Parliamentarians and Azerbaijani colleagues will be launched from October 28. "Major topic will be prevention of ratification of Turkey-Armenia protocols in the Turkish Parliament till the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is solved. Parliamentarians will also discuss the scandal due to Turkish and Azerbaijani flags," MP said.

Besides Murat Marjan, the delegation includes Mehmet Cherchi, Deniz Bolyukbashi, Zeinab Dagi, Sevzi Shanverdi, Abdullah Chalyshgan, Shaban Dishli and Shenol Bal, the Turkish Embassy to Azerbaijan told Trend .

Members of the delegation will visit the Alley of Honorary Burial and Martyr's Alley, participate in the meeting of the Committee for Foreign Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) and visit the Ataturk Center within the visit. Turkish Parliamentarians are expected to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
