![]() Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 7 / Trend News M.Aliyev / The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs are expected to present new proposals within their visit to region, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations. The frequent meetings may be regarded as dynamic in the process, he added.
Armenia should know that Azerbaijan is eager to demonstrate effective approach in the talks and opposes wasting time by using the talks, Azimov said. At present stage the basic principles are being mulled, the discussions are held on the presidents' level presidents and they will further continue, he added. See Also:
