Azerbaijan, Baku, May 21 / Trend A.Huseynbala /
Azerbaijani NGOs adopted a declaration protesting the so-called parliamentary elections in Nagorno-Karabakh by Armenian separatists.
"We have adopted a declaration protesting the illegal elections planned the Armenian separatists. This will be submitted to the U.N., OSCE and other international organizations," member of the Azerbaijani Presidential NGO Support Council and Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Refugees and IDPs Chairman Vugar Gadirov said at the Trend press center.
Gadirov said the organization and other civil society organizations signed a joint agreement on cooperation to promote the truth about the Armenian separatism throughout the world.
The agreement and declaration protesting the illegitimate "elections" in Nagorno Karabakh were signed by the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Refugees and IDPs, Council of the Karabakh Youth, and Third Sector and Zirve organizations, and the Azerbaijani Students Movement.
The separatist regime will hold parliamentary elections May 23.
The Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry earlier released a statement on the so-called "elections."
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the United States - are currently holding the peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region and the occupied territories.
