Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept.3 / Trend M.Aliyev /
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan made several disrespectful remarks about Azerbaijan this week, which is a sign of his cowardice, Azerbaijani MP Havva Mammadova told the ruling New Azerbaijan Party's official website today.
"Armenia is well aware that the international community has started to differentiate the truth from the lies," she said. "The world is tired of Armenian lies."
During his recent visit to the occupied Azerbaijani region of Nagorno Karabakh, the Armenian president voiced a series of anti-Azerbaijani remarks.
Mammadova stressed that Azerbaijanis living in Karabakh fully support Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's position that the country's territorial integrity must not be the subject of negotiations.
Azerbaijanis will return to Karabakh and once again become the owner of their lands, she said.
"Not only Azerbaijanis, but also the Armenian people, despise Sargsyan, because he is the reason why Armenia has found itself in such a difficult state," Mammadova said. "The people of Armenia are half-starving. There is outrage in the army. Armenian soldiers are moving to the Azerbaijani side. All of these things show that the head of the Armenian government is a terrorist. He will never value his state and nation."
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994.
The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the United States - are currently holding negotiations to resolve the dispute.
Armenia has failed to implement U.N. Security Council resolutions stipulating the liberation of Nagorno Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
