Azerbaijan, Baku, May 12 / Trend, E.Ostapenko /

No official report on the opening of a representative office of Nagorno Karabakh in Brussels has been received, head of the EU delegation to Baku Roland Kobia said.

" The EU does not intend to establish any relation with Nagorno- Karabakh. It is our official position , " Kobia said. " The EU has contacts only with the international ly recognized countries. "

Even if such an office is opened, it would not be officially registered in the EU, he said at a press conference on Thursday.

Last week, Armenian media reported plans to open such an office in Brussels in 2011.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
