Members of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Azerbaijani Republic public association will hold talks in the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, a member of the Public Association Farhad Badalbayli told Trend on Thursday.
"The community members will pay a visit to France, Russia and the U.S in the coming months," he said. "These countries are the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen. So it is important to inform the public about the position of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh."
There are those in the U.S. Congress and in the parliaments of the other co-chairing countries who represent the interests of the Armenian community of Nagorno-Karabakh, he added.
"Armenians marked the 20th Anniversary of Artsakh in the U.S Congress," he said. "Unfortunately, we were unable to stop it. We must intensify visits to the above-mentioned countries."
He stressed that members of the Azerbaijani community will also go to Germany later this month where they will try to meet with the Armenian community of Nagorno-Karabakh.
"We constantly propose these meetings, put forward the initiatives, but the Armenian side avoids them," he added.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France and the U.S. are currently holding the peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
