Asian Political Parties’ Conference supports Azerbaijan’s position on Nagorno-Karabakh

International Conference of Asian Political Parties supports the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in accordance with international law.

Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker Ogtay Asadov on Saturday received a delegation from the International Conference of Asian Political Parties.

Sincerely welcoming the guests, the speaker wished them success in the meeting of the Standing Committee held in Baku, the Parliament told Trend on Saturday.

It was noted that in recent years Azerbaijan has held a number of activities of regional and international importance. The speaker expressed his confidence that the VII General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties, which will be held this November in Baku, will contribute to the development of this influential international structure.

During the meeting it was noted that amid the world's complex political processes it's necessary to increase cooperation between Asian parties. The parties that are represented in the governments and parliaments of regional states can influence national policy, which is one of the factors that lead to cooperation between them.

"From this perspective, we consider deserving approval the fact that the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) is a member of this prestigious forum. We believe that the presence of a common platform for cooperation between political parties of the Asian continent has a positive impact on regional processes. We believe that this forum that brings together 300 political parties, will help to eliminate international problems. In this sense, it is extremely important to pay particular attention to issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which causes serious obstacles to the development of the South Caucasus. Despite the fact that in connection with the problem four resolutions of UN Security Council and decisions of other international actors adopted, the conflict has not yet found its logical solution. We appreciate the support of forum of Asian Political Parties for fair position of Azerbaijan and believe that the member parties of the structure will continue to be attentive to this issue, will make contribution to the solution of the problem," it was noted at the meeting.

At the meeting, representative of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties Jose de Venecia thanked for sincere and warm welcome. He appreciated the fact that the capital of the independent Azerbaijan Baku successfully hosts such an event. Guest in detail informed the audience about the Forum, its aims and objectives.

It was said that in different regions of the Asian continent, which has great economic potential, along with economic development, there are also areas of conflict. From this perspective, the structure pays special attention to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the South Caucasus, supports the solution of the problem in accordance with international legal norms on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions. Forum will continue to support a fair position of Azerbaijan.

The organization commends the work carried out by President of Azerbaijan and activities of the parliament on this issue in the development of Azerbaijan. These issues will be reflected in the Baku Declaration to be adopted at the event of the structure held in Baku.

The meeting was attended by the Azerbaijani MP, deputy chairman, executive secretary of NAP Ali Ahmedov, MP Asaf Hajiyev, Chairman and Secretary General of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties Chung Eui-yong, forum representatives Mushahid Hussain Sayed, AI Ping, Theo Sambuaga, etc.
