Campaign in memory of Khojaly genocide victims to be held in Germany

The Azerbaijani embassy in Germany and the "Azerbaijan-Germany" Friendship Society will hold a campaign in memory of the Khojaly genocide victims, the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora told Trend today.

According to the given information, such phrases as "Azerbaijan always commemorates Khojaly tragedy victims with great respect", "Genocide of Azerbaijanis committed by Armenia" at monitors of 89 buses and other vehicles from 06:00 to 00:00 during three days beginning from February 24.

It is expected that some 45,000-500,000 passengers will see these phrases at the monitors.

On Feb. 25-26 February, 1992, Armenian occupation forces together with the 366th infantry regiment of Soviet troops stationed in Khankendi (earlier Stepanakert) fired on the Azerbaijani town of Khojali that had been under siege for months when in one night the town was razed to the ground. Some 613 people were killed including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men. A total of 1000 civilians were disabled during the genocide. Eight families were killed, 130 children lost one parent and 25 lost both. Additionally, 1,275 innocent residents were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown.
