Indonesia supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity

Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec.23
By Sabina Ahmadova - Trend:

Indonesia supports Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Indonesian Parliament Marzuki Alie said in his speech before members of the House, commenting on the parliament's official position regarding the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Azerbaijani embassy in Indonesia said on Dec.23.

Indonesia supports Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territorial integrity and inviolability of its borders, according to the speaker.

Indonesia is the supporter of the peaceful solution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of UN resolutions and supports the continuation of peace talks within OSCE Minsk Group, Alie said.

Indonesia strongly condemns the Khojaly genocide, according to Marzuki Alie.

Before the completion of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, the House of Representatives of Indonesia will not give permission to the opening of its representative office in Armenia, the speaker said.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
