Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan.22
By Ilkin Izzet - Trend:

An Armenian subversive intelligence group attempted to cross the contact line between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops in the South-West to the East from the Khojavend region, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry said on Jan.22.

Thanks to the vigilance of Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the attempt of Armenians was strongly suppressed at the initial stage and they were forced to retreat suffering losses.
According to the Defence Ministry, Armenian Armed Forces have violated the ceasefire in various directions in a total of 50 times per day.

Armenian Armed Forces opened fire at positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in the villages of Agdam, Kokhanabi in the Tovuz region and at the nameless heights from positions located in the villages of Chinari, Mosesgerh in Armenia's Berd region and at nameless heights yesterday and last night.

At the same time, Azerbaijani positions were intensively fired on from positions located in the villages of Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Ashagi Veyselli in the Fizuli region, Marzili, Yusifjanli, Javahirli, Bash Gervend, Shikhlar in the Agdam region, Chayli, Chilaburt in the Terter region and Kuropatkino of Khojavend, Tapgaragoyunlu in the Goranboy region and at the nameless heights.

All the shooting was countered by return fire.

The Defence Ministry also stated that the coincidence of the information disseminated by Armenian media outlet with views expressed by some local experts against the background of tensions on the troops' contact line in recent days is regrettable.
