“Justice for Khojaly” actions held in Italy, Lithuania, Georgia, Malaysia & Moldova (PHOTO)

As the press office of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC) reports, in some countries of the world a different type of events were held within the framework of the “Justice for Khojaly” international awareness campaign.

As the press office of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC) reports, in some countries of the world a different type of events were held within the framework of the "Justice for Khojaly" international awareness campaign.

Italy. In Rome the event devoted to the Khojaly tragedy was held by the Azerbaijan-Italy Youth Association (AIYA) within the framework of "Justice for Khojaly" campaign. The aim of the action, which had been held in Spagna square was to inform the Italian public about the Armenian-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, including Khojaly tragedy. The booklets about Khojaly massacre were disseminated by AIYA activists.

Lithuania. On 25 February round table was held in Lithuanian city Klaipeda organized by "Azeris" society. The chairman of Jewish community Felix Puzimski, head of Muslim Community Shamil Gumerov, chairman of Tatar Society Ilfir Gibadullin, chairman of Society of Ukrainians and representatives of other communities participated in the round table. One of the organizers of the event Rana Mammadova as well as chairman of "Azeris" Society Aliagha Mammadov told about the reasons of Armenian-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and witness of Khojaly tragedy Sevinj Maharramova, who studies in Lithuania, has shared her opinions on the massacre with the participants. On 26 February in Kaunas, other city of Lithuania about 300 local people as well as foreign students got information about Khojaly tragedy through booklets and T-shirts with the logos of the campaign, disseminated by Azerbaijani students.

Georgia. On 26 February in Tbilisi in the office "Geo Visions" organization an action devoted to Khojaly tragedy was held by Cultural Center of Azerbaijanis in Georigia. The participants of the event watched the documentary film "Khojaly genocide". At the same day a demonstration was held in the central streets of Tbilisi. Actions within the framework of the campaign were also organized in other towns and villages of Georgia.

Malaysia. At the same days in Kuala-Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, on 25-26 February with the participation from more than 40 countries of the peace activists "Mahathir Global Peace School" International Forum was held on commemoration of the genocide. Elmar Iskandarov, vice-president of International Students Association of Indonesia has told the numereous participants of the Forum about the history of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, particularly about the Khojaly massacre and called to the participants to be active in the implementation of the campaingn's goals.

Moldova. In the capital of Moldova, in Kishinau in central park "Shtefan chel Mare" by youth wing of Congress of Azerbaijanis of Azerbaijan an action "Justice for Khojaly" devoted to the 22th commemoration of the tragedy was held. In these days an information and articles about the tragedy were also published in the leading newspapers of the country.

"Justice for Khojaly" international civil awareness Campaign was initiated by Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva, ICYF-DC General Coordinator on the day of anniversary of the occupation of Shusha, May 8, 2008. Currently, the Campaign aiming at bringing the truth abouth the Khojaly tragedy to the world community, and achieving political, legal and moral appraisal, is being successfully implemented in over 35 countries worldwide.
