Russia must be transparent and declare its position on Iran's nuclear program: official

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast called suspicious Russia's voting against the Iranian peaceful nuclear program in connection with the adoption of the latest resolutions by the IAEA Council, IRNA reported.

"We have had several consultations with Russia over the nuclear program. Russia is familiar with the essence of Iran's nuclear program and Iran's logical and transparent position," he said at the news conference today. "Meanwhile, Russia's latest action is suspicious and Russia must be transparent and declare its position on Iran's nuclear program."

According to the official, the final IAEA resolution is unfair and violates legal equality. Mehmanparast also hoped to review IAEA member country decisions on the matter.

The five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council and Germany presented to the IAEA Board of Governors Nov.27 a draft resolution against Iran, which was approved.
