Tagliavini commission confirms violation of international legal norms by Russia: Georgian foreign minister

Georgia, Tbilisi, October 1 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia

The commission's conclusions to reveal facts of the conflict in Georgia in August 2008 will repeatedly assist Tbilisi in arguing its positions, Georgian foreign minister Grigol Vashadze said commenting Tagliavini commission's document.

"The document stressed that Russia has violated all international legal norms, as well as committed crimes against humanity. It is the principal conclusion of the commission," he said.

Minister said that the commission's report sharply fixed presence of Russian regular troops and armed units from Russia in the form of so-called militiamen. It led to launching the war."

But he said that the document does not directly accuse Russia of military aggression. "The facts were formulated by the commission very exactly in its report. Unfortunately, these facts did not lead the commission to the final action. It is clear that it was made due to political correctness. The commission failed to articulate three world- Russian military aggression," he said.
