Delegation of the United National Movement of Georgia attended the congress of the Turkish ruling Justice Development Party (AKP) held in Ankara on Oct. 3-4, upon the Turkish Prime Minister's invitation.
The delegation of the Georgian ruling party was headed by Deputy Parliamentaryu Speaker, Giorgi Tsereteli. David Bezhuashvili and Georgian Ambassador to Turkey, Tariel Lebanidze, is also included in the delegation.
About 20,000 delegates and delegations of 20 countries' political organizations attended the congress, the parliament reported.
In his speech, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan talked about the political problems of his party, new initiatives in the political and economic strengthening of Turkey and prospects of the European integration. Erdogan stressed that Turkey would continue active regional cooperation and is ready to continue to support Georgia in resolving problems.
The congress re-elected Recep Tayyip Erdogan as the leader of the party.
During the visit, the Georgian delegation met with the parliamentary group of friendship with Georgia and the members of the AKP governing board.
