Secretary of Georgian National Security Council meets with U.S deputy foreign minister

On Oct. 20, Secretary of Georgian National Security Council Eka Tkeshelashvili and US Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Vershbow discussed Georgia's security issues. The meeting was held behind the closed doors in Tbilisi Marriott the hotel.

Only Tkeshelashvili commented on the meeting.

"Security of Georgia, as well as the region, is a priority for us and therefore we pay it particular attention," Tkeshelashvili said. "Security issues were considered in a broad spectrum," he added

"We can note the U.S involvement in ensuring security of Georgia, Tkeshelashvili said. The first Tbilisi meeting of working groups in the format of the Georgian-American charter on cooperation is also focused on security and defense matters.

On Oct.20, Vershbow will attend the meeting of the U.S-Georgia working groups on security.
