Acts among 15 UN documents, signed by Turkmenistan have special importance. The acts aim to ensure global security, the National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the Turkmen President said.
These acts include the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism, the Convention on International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, the Cartagena Protocol to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Moreover, a project of the Penal Code, developed together with the international experts is under completion within lawmaking activity.
A project of the Concept of reforming the juvenile justice system, preparing under support of UNICEF is among considered ones.
The inter-departmental commission established by Turkmenistan deals with all these issues. The commission prepares national reports in UN committees to fulfill the Convention on Human Rights.
This commission conducts constant dialogue with the regional office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Development Program, UNICEF, UNHCR and other UN agencies.
Results of the Commission for this period is the preparation of national reports on implementation of the UN Convention, on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, Child Rights, International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the Universal Periodic Review and the common core document, as well as periodic reports on the Conventions on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination on the Rights of the Child.
At present, the Commission works over national reports to implement the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention against Torture.
