Azerbaijani opposition party will take part in municipal elections as a common party list, as well as individually.
"For the successful conduct of the campaign, we give preference to the nomination of candidates from one list, separated by local organizations and compiled by the central executive office of the party," Arif Hajili, head of the central executive office of Musavat Party, told Trend on Oct. 24.
Municipal elections in Azerbaijan will be held on December 23. 15,682 members are envisaged to be elected for 1,718 municipalities.
Municipal elections were held twice - in 1999 and 2004.
According to Hajili, Musavat party intends to nominate candidates for the majority of municipalities in Azerbaijan and succeed. "I believe that the candidates who will support the party can achieve greater success in the elections," he said.
The party has developed a special plan of campaign. "Once the campaign will start, we will begin to implement the plan," - said Hajili.
Musavat party was founded in Baku in 1911. The party's was re-launched on Nov. 7, 1992. Gambar was elected chief of Musavat party with majority of votes. Isa Gambar, was the former Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament in 1992 to1993 and was nominated for the 2003 presidential elections. The Party is represented by four MPs in the parliament.
