MDS is NATO's project, but other countries can also use it: U.S. ambassador to Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi, Oct. 28 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /

The missile defense system (MDS) is NATO's project and consequently the countries associated with the NATO will be able to use it, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Bass said in an interview with the Rustavi-2 television company on Oct.28.

Although the MDS is a project of NATO, but the U.S plays leading role in it. "We do not mean their deployment in the countries outside NATO. But this does not mean that countries connected with the NATO, will not be able to use them," Bass said.

Despite it, the ambassador noted that the U.S. continues to cooperate with Georgia in security matters. Bass cited trainings of the Georgian military, as well as cooperation at the international level as a good example.

"There are also other areas that are not visible on the surface. We will continue our cooperation in the future," the ambassador added.
