The bill on economic sanctions against Iran is likely to be approved by the U.S. Senate, the director of the Middle East Institute, Yevgeny Satanovsky, said.
"The probability the bill will be adopted is high.
Intensification of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Iranian readiness to export uranium abroad for further enrichment is connected with it. It is intended to torpedo the sanctions against Iran," Satanovsky told Trend via e-mail.
U.S. Senate's Banking Committee will put to the vote a bill to tighten sanctions against Iran due to its nuclear activity. Sanctions will also concern suppliers of oil products to Iran, as well as companies that build oil and gas pipelines in the country and deliver tankers for transportation of Iranian oil.
The U.S. government will also be prohibited from purchasing goods from foreign companies that actively participate in the energy sector of Iran under the bill.
The new bill is intended to be a warning signal to heads of countries and local leaders all over the United States to refuse from cooperation with Iran, U.S. Congressman Mark Kirk told Trend .
Satanovsky does not think that sanctions against foreign companies can impact the policy of such countries as China towards Iran.
China, as a permanent member of UN Security Council, opposed the introduction of new restrictive measures against Iran up to now. Moreover, Chinese companies actively resumed export of gasoline to Iran since September. Its supplies are planned to restrict the United States and several Western countries.
"There will not be any problems with China. China will do what its leadership considers necessary regardless of whether sanctions will be taken. Nobody will quarrel with China."
As to U.S. relations with Iran, Satanovsky said that it will not be bad in any case, since "the East respects force pressure but Iran is eastern country."
The USA and several other Western countries accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of peaceful nuclear energy program.
Western countries do not rule out making a decision to impose energy sanctions against Iran to prevent creation of nuclear weapons and suspend Iran's nuclear program.
