Russia, Moscow, 18 Nov. / Trend K.Konirova/
Trade and economic ties lie in the basis of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, Kazakhstan foreign minister Kanat Saudabaev said in his address in Moscow State University.
"Russia is Kazakhstan's biggest trade partner. One third of Kazakhstan's foreign turnover is with Russia. The volume came to amazing 20 bln USD last year. However financial-economic crisis seriously damaged bilateral trade. During Jan.-Sep. 2009 the turnover plunged 8.7 bln USD or 43.5perent", minister said.
The countries are capable of overcoming the consequences of the crisis. "Kazakhstan and Russia are working in the spheres of transit and transport, fuel-energy, in particular a range of projects is carried out on mutual exploitation of oil and gas deposits, delivery of hydrocarbons to world market", minister stated.
Minister believes the countries have huge potential in developing the outer space and alternative energy, biotechnologies and so on.
"These all are included in updated "agenda" within economic partnership program between Kazakhstan and Russia in coming 10 years", minister noted.
