31,062 candidates have already been approved for municipalities in Azerbaijan, the press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan told Trend .
Of the candidates, 15,608 have higher education. 6,150 of the candidates are women.
Municipal elections in Azerbaijan will be held on December 23. During these elections, 15 682 members will be elected for 1,718 municipalities. Formerly elections were held twice - in 1999 and 2004.
Of the candidates, 10,960 people are independent, others represent 30 political parties. The registration of the candidates will end at 18:00 on Nov. 23.
