Turkmen leader invites Italian PM to visit Turkmenistan

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov invited Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to visit Ashgabat.

Berlusconi gratefully accepted the president's invitation, a governmental press service reported today. The dates of the visit will be agreed upon through diplomatic channels.

During his Rome visit this week, Berdimuhammedov signed a package of the documents.

The sides signed an agreement on supporting and protecting investments, a memorandum of scientific, educational and cultural cooperation, a memorandum of cooperation between the Turkmen Chamber of Commerce and Italian Union of Commerce, and a memorandum of understanding between the State Agency for Management and Hydrocarbon Resources Use and Italian Eni company.

The sides also adopted a joint communique following the talks.
