Poland is ready to assist Georgia in modernizing the military, Polish Defense Minister Bogdan Klich said after meeting with his Georgian counterpart Bacho Akhalaia.
The Klich-Akhalaia meeting was held behind closed doors for over an hour, after which the ministers made brief comments to the press.
Klich said Poland is ready to assist Georgia in training military personnel.
"We have good relations and Poland supports Georgia's membership in NATO," he said adding that his country will assist its armed forces.
The Polish minister said he met with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and discussed with him Poland's aid to Georgia's integration into NATO.
Akhalaia noted the high level of Georgian-Polish cooperation in the military sphere.
"We discussed Georgia's integration into NATO and how Poland may assist in this way," he said.
After the meeting, the ministers laid a wreath on a memorial to soldiers who died defending Georgia's territorial integrity on Heroes' Square.
