Turkmenistan, Italy to exchange embassies in near future

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Dec.2 / Trend , H.Hasanov /

Turkmenistan and Italy plan to exchange embassies and trade houses in the near future, an official Turkmen source said today.

An agreement was reached during the recent official visit of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Rome where he held talks with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

It was also decided to establish a Turkmen-Italian intergovernmental commission, the source added.

"Strengthening and intensifying diplomatic relations will serve to diversify the intergovernmental dialogue in all main spheres," Berdimuhamedov said at a recent state meeting.

The UK, Germany and France have diplomatic missions in Ashgabat.
