Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili lit a Christmas tree in central Tbilisi in front of parliament Dec. 6.
Georgia's First Lady Sandra Roelofs, Parliamentary Speaker David Bakradze, Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava and other well-known individuals took part in the celebration.
Roelofs said next year will be better for the country and citizens will feel the improvement.
Three men dressed as Santa Claus dropped down from parliament's rooftop holding Georgian flags and performed acrobatic feats.
Later the Christmas Village on the Rose Square opened.
