Being on his first working visit to Vatican, Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze mulled the urgency of enhancing the Vatican-Georgia relations with Vatican's Foreign Minister Monsignor Dominique Mamberti. The ministry reported.
The meeting also discussed topical questions of bilateral cooperation and issues connected with the occupied Georgian territories, as well as the importance of the policy of non-recognition of independence of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali Region.
During his visit, the Georgian minister also held meetings with Chairman of the Economic Department "Compagnia delle Opere" of the movement "Comunione e Liberazione" Bernhard Scholz and Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Order of Malta Jean-Pierre Mazery.
Vashadze is also expected to hold meetings with President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches Leonardo Cardinal Sandri and President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Cardinal Walter Casper.
In the framework of the visit the Minister of Foreign Affairs will give an interview to the Italian television and the newspaper "L'Osservatore Romano".
