Azerbaijan has proved in a very short time that it is loyal to commitments taken to the Council of Europe. Today Azerbaijan's legislation fully complies with European standards, Vice-Speaker Bahar Muradova told media on Monday.
Azerbaijan was admitted by the Council of Europe January 25, 2001. By joining the organization, Azerbaijan has taken a number of commitments.
Muradova said non-fulfillment of certain obligations is related to the situation in the country.
"The draft law Alternative Service" has not been adopted yet in Azerbaijan because Azerbaijan is in the state of war. Despite this, the existing legislation on military service of Azerbaijani citizens fully complies with the realities of time," she said.
