Russian Foreign Minister is on official visit to Uzbekistan.
The visit is organized for full-scale exchange of opinion with the Uzbek side on all directions of bilateral relations between the Russia and Uzbekistan in context of the upcoming the Russian-Uzbek summit in Moscow, which will be held in the beginning of 2010.
"We appreciate Uzbekistan's position towards our joint history and Russian language, which is widely taught in higher and secondary education and used in printed and electronic media in your country," Lavrov said speaking at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
According to the Minister, Moscow appreciates the atmosphere created in Uzbekistan, interfaith tolerance, support to activities without any restrictions of Tashkent and Central Asian diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church."
"It is worth a lot on the background of attempts undertaken to falsify history - the Soviet period and the distant past, in some countries that, lived side by side for centuries, shared success and disaster, namely the Great Patriotic War," he added.

Together with its allies in the CSTO, Russia and Uzbekistan joined in sponsoring the decisions to commemorate the 65 th anniversary of the Victory, which were adopted this month at the UN General Assembly and the OSCE Ministerial Council Meeting," - "Lavrov said.
Presently, Lavrov meets with his Uzbek Counterpart Vladimir Norov. Then, Lavrov is expected to meet with Uzbek President Islam Karimov.
After the talks, the sides are expected to sign Cooperation Programme between the foreign ministries of Russia and Uzbekistan in 2010.
