About 317 prisoners of the total 420 prisoner have already voted in today's municipal elections at the Ganja Correctional Institution No. 2, the Nizami District Elections Commission (DEC) No.38 told Trend .
The Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani Independent Research Center 'ELS' hold exit-poll at today's municipal elections in the constituencies of the Nizami DEC. About 50 interviewers are engaged in this exit-poll.
The Nizami DEC No.37 and 38 and Kapaz DEC No. 39 and 40 have registered 148,150 voters. The municipal elections take place at 108 constituencies, the DECs reported.
About 1,531 local observers monitor the municipal elections in the Ganja city
Azerbaijan launched the municipal elections. The country has about 4.6 million registered voters.
Voting began in constituencies throughout the country at 08:00 a.m.
About 15,682 members are planned to be elected to 1,718 municipalities. Municipal elections were held twice in 1999 and 2004.
Azerbaijan has registered about 31,000 candidates, including 6,108 women, for municipal members. Candidates from 18 political parties have been registered for elections. Candidates refer to 30 political parties.
The CEC will provide information on ballots at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The municipal elections will be finished at 7:00 p.m.
The CEC registered 48,388 observers, including 1,160 local observers and 52 foreign observers.
