Voter turnout in municipal elections in Azerbaijani Ganja region hits 31.17 percent

The municipal election completed in Azerbaijan's city of Ganja (365 km west from Baku), 31.17 percent (46,189 voters) of voters attended elections The Nizami District Elections Commission (DEC) No.37 and 38 and Kapaz DEC No. 39 and 40 told Trend .   

The same DEC have registered 148,150 voters. The municipal elections take place at 108 constituencies, the DECs reported.

About 1,531 local observers monitor the municipal elections in the Ganja city.

100 percent of prisoners have already voted in today's municipal elections at the Ganja Correctional Institution No. 2. Some 99.8 percent of military people at military polling station established under DEC No. 39, and 91 percent at DEC No. 40 participated in the elections.  

The voting completed at 19:00.

About 15,682 members are planned to be elected to 1,718 municipalities. Municipal elections were held twice in 1999 and 2004.

Azerbaijan has registered about 31,000 candidates, including 6,108 women, for municipal members. Candidates from 18 political parties have been registered for elections. Candidates refer to 30 political parties.
