Georgian Reintegration Minister Temur Yakobashvili refutes information that Georgia is not complying with the Sarkozy-Medvedev agreement as stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Nesterenko commented on the EU observer mission head's statement that Russia is not complying with the ceasefire agreement. He noted that the EU mission's mandate in Georgia does not extend to the "new states" in the Caucasus.
Nesterenko also said Georgia itself is not fulfilling the agreement or withdrawing its military units to pre-war deployment locations.
Yakobashvili said he is aware of the Sarkozy-Medvedev agreement.
"I know the plan drawn up with the mediation of French President Nicolas Sarkozy and signed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili," he said. "Regarding its execution, the French side should answer this question."
He emphasized that until now it was repeatedly stated that "Russia is violating this agreement."
