The Azerbaijani-Russian Forum has demonstrated how important it is to discuss the urgent and most troubling problems. We have fully justified the expectations of our presidents. It was their idea to hold the forum, the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Head Ramiz Mehdiyev said today at the closing ceremony of the First Forum of Azerbaijani-Russian public held in Baku.

"Ilham Aliyev has proposed to hold a similar forum in Baku and give it an international character. If we hold a forum, all our discussions and contracts will be continued in different areas," he said.

The Presidential Administration Head said that the interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are at a high level. The parties should work more effectively to strengthen ties.

"Our forum will continue its work. I would not like the forum to have a nostalgic nature, he said.

Ramiz Mehdiyev is sure that the Azerbaijani-Russian Youth Forum must be held along with this forum.

"We should create a program to preserve our great cultures for young people. We must cooperate at the level of NGOs and friendship groups. Another very important issue is to reform journalism and exchange of experience with Russia's colleagues," he said.

On Friday in Baku opened the first Russo-Azerbaijani Forum on humanitarian cooperation. Its organizers are the state structures of the two countries. The forum discussed topical issues of bilateral relations, the interaction of political institutions, civil society, professional associations and creative unions of countries. Particular attention is paid to the role of media in building bridges between Russia and Azerbaijan, bringing the reality of two states to the general public, preserving the Russian language and expanding the Russian-speaking information space.
